Wednesday was the last time the Park City and the Oakley School will meet before each goes to regional’s next Saturday, and then onto state. Each team had two forfeits but Oakley came out on top 30 to 24 with four pins over two for Park City. "It went well for us. We haven’t had matches for a few weeks because Alta canceled," said Russell Love, Oakley head coach. "Even though we lost a couple by one point, the guys see it as a learning opportunity," said Love. Oakley goes on to 1A regional’s in Rich next Saturday Feb. 4, while Park City heads to Union for the 3A regional’s next weekend. The regional meet will determine how many team members will move on the state competition at the McKay Events Center at UVSC, February 8 11. "We think we can take up to five wrestlers," said Love, "but we are taking one for sure." Greg Vernon, Oakley’s top wrestler took state in Florida last year and is hoping to do the same here in Utah. Park City coaches were unavailable for comment.
