County Sheriff’s Report

Cody Bakula drowned last weekend in Puffer Lake in Beaver County. He was 18 years old and from Summit County, authorities said.

Bakula was camping at the lake. He was doing the backstroke when he went under and did not resurface.

Calls received last week by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office include:

No life-threatening injuries were reported when a Jeep Cherokee struck a wall near Peoa on July 15 at 10:54 p.m.

A man on Samak Hills Road near Kamas allegedly lit an illegal bonfire at his cabin on July 15 at 10:10 p.m.

Several people reportedly saw a naked man walking through a campground in North Summit on July 15 at 9:47 p.m.

A purse was allegedly stolen from a store on Landmark Drive on July 15 at 4:33 p.m.

Someone inside a Subaru in North Summit was shooting paintballs near Coalville on July 15 at 3:25 p.m.

Deputies investigated a possible case of child abuse in South Summit. A girl suffered a black eye, according to a caller on July 15.

On July 14, an assault was reported to the Sheriff’s Office after an altercation at a campground near the Mirror Lake Highway, east of Kamas.

A man on Highland Drive in the Snyderville Basin claimed his mailbox was stolen on July 13 at 4:20 p.m.

Deputies were unable to find a man driving a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck who reportedly stole $31.92 worth of gasoline from a store in Coalville on July 13.

Kids were allegedly vandalizing homes in Jeremy Ranch with eggs on July 13 at 12:25 a.m.

An Oakley woman suffered burns on her hands from a fire at her house on New Lane Road on July 12 at 6:30 p.m.

A generator was allegedly stolen from a worksite near Wanship on July 11 at 9:01 a.m.

On July 11, a man on Silver Sage in the Snyderville Basin claimed a hot-air balloon pilot landed on his property.

No injuries were reported as a result of a traffic crash that involved a Pontiac Grand Am and Ford Taurus at Promontory on July 10 at 1:15 p.m.

On July 10, a moose near Rasmussen Road was reportedly running toward Jeremy Ranch at 7:48 a.m.

A woman in ParkWest Village claimed clothing and a cellular telephone were stolen when her house was burglarized on July 9.

On July 9, a wallet, iPod and leather bag were among the items stolen when a Francis man’s car was allegedly burglarized.

On July 9, a Kamas man, who lost his wallet at the Oakley Fourth of July Rodeo, claimed someone had made $330 worth of fraudulent charges on his bank card.

A woman who was a customer at a business on Landmark Drive allegedly assaulted a store clerk on July 9 at 4:50 p.m.
