Cyclists injured in Park City road race
A stretch of State Road 32 alongside Rockport Reservoir was closed for a short time Saturday morning while emergency personnel tended to three injured cyclists.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Altenes, a female was transported via medial helicopter with a possible head injury. Two males were taken by ambulance to the Park City Medical Center with minor injuries.
Altenes said it appeared that the three were riding close together when one of the cyclists hit some rough pavement and tumbled, taking down the other two. "They were riding in a pack when one hit a bad spot of road, lost control and caused a chain reaction." He said that no cars were involved in the accident.
The incident happened at about 8:15 a.m. Saturday near mile post 27. He added the riders were participating in the Tour of Park City event.
