Volunteers are requested for the end-of-the-year barbecue to celebrate a successful school season for students and parents alike at Trailside Elementary School on May 30. Those interested are requested to work 30-minute shifts between 5 and 8 p.m. For more information, email Kim Deimling at

Bee There

The Park Record Spelling Bee will be held on May 16 at the Egyptian Theater. The Bee begins at 3 p.m. with second and third-graders. The fourth and fifth grade Bees will begin to compete at 4 p.m. The sixth and seventh grade contest begins at 5 p.m.

Diverse history

The Park City Historical Society will hold its next Brown Bag Lecture at McPolin Farm on May 15 at noon. Eileen Hallet Stone, under the sponsorship of the Utah Humanities Council will address the "Utah Faces of Judaism." For more information, call the Historical Society at (435) 649-7457.

History day winners

Congratulations to Joey Butterfield, Nate Shirey, Caleb Case, Jesse Paskoski and Abby Turner who did well at the Treasure Mountain International School History Day competition and went on to join the Utah State History Day contest.
