UVU to hold faculty recruitment
Utah Valley University is hiring part-time faculty for the 2013-2014 academic year beginning fall semester 2013. The university held a public open house yesterday in Orem and will hold another April 9 in Sandy, for interested candidates. The positions requires applicants with a range of skills, including but not limited to real estate law, health care law, intellectual property and cyber law, speech communication, public relations, rhetoric and composition, Portuguese and Chinese.
Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in the subject matter or closely related area and one year teaching or closely related professional experience.
The Sandy open house will be at the Hyatt House, 9685 S. Monroe Street, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interested individuals can also apply online at uvu.jobs.
Running With Ed deadline approaching
The 4th annual “Running with Ed” relay held by the Park City Education Foundation is taking place May 18.The 38-mile, 10-leg race traversing through Park City is making the deal sweeter for Park City schools this year.
Bringing back the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place grants for PCSD schools with the highest participation – giving schools an opportunity to earn $5,000, $3,000, or $2,000 grants to support fund educational programs at their schools.
The title sponsor for the event, Ragnar Relay Series, is providing the funding for these grants.
Every school with a minimum of 50-percent participation will receive a $1,000 grant from PCEF.
“Last year we raised $130,000 through the event,” said Jennifer Billow, PCEF Communications Manager. “This has really become one of the key events that take place in Park City over the years. It’s a great opportunity for the public to help support the students in the community.”
Billow urges participants to turn in registration for the event soon. Running With Ed deadline is April 18 and the Walk-A-Thon deadline is May 11.
Every participant may receive points towards the PCSD school of their choice.
Seniors working on outside or online credits that are required for graduation this year are reminded that in order to ensure credits are recorded in time for graduation they must be completed by May 1. The Park City School District recommends seniors who are falling behind should visit the Park City Learning Center for remediation support.
