New school board takes office

During its work session Jan.9, the Park City Board of Education elected Kim Carson president. She took over from President David Chaplin. Lisa Kirchenheiter was elected vice-president.

Two Park City school board members were sworn in. Charles Cunningham became the new representative of District 5,in the seat relinquished by Kathryn Adair in December. District 5 covers Olympic Park, Lower Pinebrook/Ranch Estates, Timberline and Summit Park. Kim Carson was sworn in for another term, representing District 4, which includes Silver Creek/Red Hawk, Spring Creek/Jeremy Ranch (Daybreaker) and Southridge/Old Jeremy Ranch.

Big Band Sweetheart Dance

Park City High School will host its third-annual Big Band Sweetheart Dance on Feb. 9, The event is the music department’s only fundraiser. Individual tickets sell for $40 per person, $35 for senior citizens. Dance floor tables seating 10 are priced at $450, other tables are priced at $400. Dinner is included, and black tie atire is suggested. The dance will take place from 7-11 p.m. at the Yarrow Resort Hotel and Conference Center, 1800 Park Ave. Tickets are on sale at the Eccles Center box office.
