Education Briefs for Jan. 23 through Jan. 29

The Park City Board of Education is extending the application period for school administration to join the committee searching for a new superintendent. Community members are currently being selected and will be notified later this week. Those selected will help the district find a candidate, and any interested community members are asked to submit a letter with background information and a brief statement on why they are applying to serve the committee. Information should be submitted to the board secretary, Lorie Pearce at email@example.com.
The Park City School District is scheduled to host a number of elementary school science fairs, where grade school students will display months of work on their projects. The fairs are a part of STEM education, a program working to develop opportunities for K-12 students in science, math, engineering and technology. PCSD students have opportunities both within the school day and after school to engage in a wide range of STEM activities. The Science Fair dates are scheduled to be held on the following days:

Jan. 29 – McPolin

Dual Immersion Registration
The Park City School District is about to begin the registration process for its elementary school dual immersion programs. Registration documents for the 2013-14 school year will be available after the registration meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12. The meeting will be held at Ecker Hill Middle School at 7 p.m. where the state model, registration, lottery process and wait list will be explained to parents and guardians. The application deadline is March 8, 2013. The Park City School District is currently accepting applications for the wait list only.
