Education briefs for October 7-10, 2006
Schools will be closed in North Summit School District, South Summit School District and the Park City School District for the Utah Education Association (UEA) weekend Oct. 12 and13.
Physicals
High school sports physicals will be available at Park City Healthcare (1665 Bonanza Dr.) on October 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $15. and forms are available at Park City High school.
High school diploma
Earn a high school diploma through Park City School District’s ongoing program. Preparation for the G.E.D. test is offered in both English and Spanish. Adult High School is held Tuesday and Thursday nights in the Park City Learning Center 2400 Kearns Blvd., by McPolin Elementary, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration is $35 per year. Volunteers needed
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah are looking for volunteers to spend a few hours with a child two to four times per month. Children range from 6 to 12-years-old, and come from single-parent homes. For more information call (801) 313-0303 or http://www.bbbsu.org
Park City School District contracts for AI gun detection service
Park City School District will pay $546,000 over the next five years for ZeroEyes, a software company that uses artificial intelligence to detect brandished firearms, to monitor 650 cameras in all 12 schools.
