Park City School District official accused of distributing porn resigns

The Park City School District financial manager accused of distributing pornography to minors has resigned from his position, according to the district.

Michael W. Heagren, 55, is facing charges in West Jordan’s 3rd District Court stemming from incidents that allegedly occurred while he was serving as a middle school basketball coach in the West Jordan area. According to court documents, Heagren on multiple occasions in May of 2014 hired four middle-school aged boys to do chores for him, then offered to pay them extra if they would take off their clothes.

Heagren is also accused of showing two of the boys pornography at his home.

The Park City School District initially put Heagren on administrative leave when he was arrested Sept. 3. Superintendent Ember Conley said the district is in the process of looking internally to fill the responsibilities of his position, which he had held since 2006.

Conley said Heagren’s situation was unexpected, but the district has been able to manage his duties.

"We deal with human beings and not concrete, non-breathing items," she said. "These types of situations happen, and that’s part our jobs. We have to be flexible and responsive."
