Empire Avenue redo open house planned

Jay Hamburger The Park Record

City Hall has scheduled a second open house for people interested in roadwork planned on Empire Avenue this year.

The open house is scheduled from 5 p.m. until 7 pm. On Tuesday, March 27 in Room 205 of the Park City Library and Education Center. Representatives from City Hall and the team preparing for the work will be available to answer questions.

An earlier open house was held in February.

The stretch of Empire Avenue between Silver King Drive and Lowell Avenue intersection will be redone, a 3,300-foot stretch of road. The road surface will be replaced and new curb and gutters will be installed. A water line, a gas line and part of a sewer line will be replaced.

Early estimates put the roadwork at $1.8 million. The price of the utility work has not been finalized.

The Park City engineer, Matt Cassel, has said he wants the project to commence by late-May and finish by mid-October. The project will likely be put out to bid in mid-April.
