Ex-Talking Heads frontman booked at Eccles

David Byrne s new album is schedule to release Aug. 19.

Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne opens the winter concert series for the Park City Performing Arts Foundation with a show Oct. 11, according to the foundation’s director Teri Orr.

He will play at the The George S. & Dolores Doré Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.

The nonprofit foundation booked Byrnes last week. Tickets for Foundation members go on sale Monday Aug. 18 at 9 a.m. Tickets for nonmembers go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m.

Orr said Byrne was one of the biggest acts that has ever played at the Eccles Center. "This is huge," she said. "We’ve been working for some time to secure him."

Ticket prices have not increased from last year, Orr said. Prices range from about $20 to $65. The Eccles Center seats 1,265 people.

Byrne’s tour is in anticipation of a solo studio album.

The performing arts foundation plans to announce its full winter lineup Sept. 1. Fiddle player Natalie MacMaster and Brazilian dancers of Grupo Corpo have been confirmed for the series, which may include as many as 14 acts.
