The Young Riders, Squatter’s Road House Grill, the National Off-Road Bicycle Association (NORBA) and Team Big Bear are throwing a community party at Squatter’s in Park City on Thursday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m.The event will kickoff the NORBA National bike races that will be held at Deer Valley over the weekend and proceeds will benefit the Young Riders. Professional teams from across the country will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures. There will also be some giveaways and prizes. Cost is $5 at the door, with a buffet included. Drinks are an additional cost.
Roxy Bikini Pop Drop Axis Freeride has partnered with Roxy for the Bikini Pop Drop, an all-girls water ramp training camp open to the public at the Utah Olympic Park, June 27-29. The three-day camp, sponsored by Roxy and run by Axis Freeride, will allow participants to learn general air sense, refine their current skills and add some new moves to their repertoire. The camp is perfect for all ages and abilities, and all participants will be outfitted with a Roxy swimsuit. The camp includes entry into the Roxy Bikini Pop Drop Jam at the end of the three-day session, where participants can show off their new skills to friends, family and a panel of judges, with the opportunity to win Roxy gear. The camp staff is all-female as well. The camp will be held Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. 4 a.m. and Friday 9 a.m. 5:30 p.m. The Roxy Bikini Pop Drop Jam Competition will be held from 4 5:30 p.m. The cost is $250, which includes equipment, a Roxy bathing suit and lunches. REI navigation expert John Higgins will present a workshop on Global Positioning Systems (GPS) on Tuesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. The GPS tool aids in navigation through backcountry terrain or down city streets. The presentation will cover an introduction to the GPS system, types of GPS receivers and their common use, and basic GPS functions. The presentation will be an excellent primer for people who are looking to get started with GPS use. The class will be held at Miner’s Hospital, located at 1354 Park Avenue, on the second floor.

The Jeep King of the Mountain Series has announced the Canyons Resort as one of the official host sites for the 2007 Mountain Biking World Professional Championships. The event will feature 16 of the top mountain bike racers from across the globe battling head-to-head on the series’ Y-cross racecourse for the biggest prize purse in the sport — $100,000 with cash bonuses and the keys to a new 2008 Jeep vehicle.
