Park City Mountain Resort is hosting the world’s best skiers and snowboarders in the sixth annual World Superpipe Championships on Saturday, March 8. This year, the invited skiers and snowboarders will all compete on the same day for a piece of the $90,000 prize purse on the Eagle Superpipe. Confirmed competitors include Shaun White, Tanner Hall, Torah Bright, Simon Dumont, Mason Aguirre, Jossi Wells, Hannah Teter, Keir Dillon, J.J. Thomas, and Kelly Clark. The 2008 World Superpipe Championships are free to the public and will include live music, food and giveaways. The Eagle Superpipe is located just above the First Time and Three Kings Lifts. Wasatch Citizens’ Series
The final Timberland Wasatch Citizens’ race event will be held next Saturday, Feb.16, at White Pine Touring Center at 10 a.m. The race will be 20 kilometers in length. Parking and registration will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, just north of the Osguthorpefarm.
Jeep Terrain Park Challenge
The Canyons Resort will host the the Jeep Terrain Park Challenge Friday, Feb. 15. The challenge is a progressive grassroots program in its third year of promoting safety and responsibility at terrain parks. It will bring together skiers and snowboarders to The Canyons Resort to learn how to avoid injury when seeking big air or attempting extreme stunts. Together with the Rossignol Demo Team, the Jeep Terrain Park Challenge guides riders through the National Ski Area Association’s Smart Style program, emphasizing awareness of surroundings, knowing one’s limits, and respecting other riders. After the safety clinic, skiers and snowboarders will take center stage in a competition for prizes. Participants will receive DVDs, magazines, T-shirts and hats, as well as giveaways from challenge sponsors.
