Martin makes youth squad
Real Salt Lake (RSL) recently selected Park City High School soccer player Tommy Martin among the 32 players that will make up the RSL-Utah Under-17 squad that will compete under the banner of Utah’s Major League Soccer side this summer. More than 110 players attended the squad’s tryouts in late May under the watch of RSL-Utah Head Coach Greg Maas and his coaching staff and RSL Head Coach Jason Kreis, with 62 hopefuls making the first cut before the final 32-man roster was announced. The full RSL-Utah U-17 roster will be posted in the "Youth Development" section of http://www.RealSaltLake.com . The team will gather for the first time next week at Real Salt Lake’s XanGo Field facility in Lehi, with training sessions held Tuesday and Wednesday immediately following the RSL senior team’s practices. Following up on RSL-Utah’s inaugural season in 2007, year two will see the team compete against fellow MLS youth development sides and other local clubs in various tournaments and friendlies to be announced shortly. RSL-Utah fielded two teams last summer, with the RSL-Utah U-16 squad finishing at 2-4-0 and the RSL-Utah U-17’s finishing 5-2-1, one point out of first-place in the Super Y-League’s Rocky Mountain Division.
