Parkite Larry Kase finished third in the 60-64 age group division in the U.S. National Master Championship competition and third in the 60-64 age group division of the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis St. Paul, Minn. on Oct. 5. His official time was 3 hours and 13 minutes and 35 seconds. The event is one of the 10 largest marathons in the U.S. with 11,000 entries this year. The event is also the USA Track and Field Men’s Open National Marathon Championship and Men’s and Women’s Masters National Marathon Championship. The Twin Cities event is the only U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifying race in 2008.
Josie Johnson Memorial Ride
The fifth annual Josie Johnson Memorial Ride to memorialize cyclists killed in Utah during 2008 will be held Oct. 11 at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and the ride begins at 11 a.m. The ride is free of charge.
The Park City Racquet Club will offer a ski conditioning class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 14 through April 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. The class is designed to keep legs and the core area in tune for what the winter has in store.
