The South Summit Aquatic and Fitness Center is putting on its annual free tennis clinic on Saturday, May 20 from 10-11:30 a.m at the South Summit Middle School tennis courts. Participants will get a basic taste of tennis skills — from serving to hitting. Please wear tennis shoes. The clinic is free and racquets will be provided. The clinic is for all ages. Teach your pet good manners at Park City Recreation’s dog obedience classes. Sessions are held throughout the summer, and the next one begins Tuesday, May 16. Puppy Preschool is held at 6 p.m. and is designed for puppies age 10 weeks to five months. Basic Obedience is held at 7 p.m. for dogs five months and older, including newly adopted pets. Black Diamond, a premier competitive soccer club offering professional coaches dedicated to developing each player and team to their fullest potential, will be holding 2006-2007 team tryouts June 2-3 for girls interested in playing U-9 through U-15 competitive soccer. Tryouts for U-9 through U-14 will be held at the Basin Recreation Field House, located at 1388 West New Main Street. Team tryouts for U-9 and U-10 will be held Friday, 3:15-4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Teams tryouts for U-11 and U-12 will be held Friday, 4:30-5:45 p.m. and Saturday, 12:15-1:30 p.m. Team tryouts for U-13 and U-14 will be held Friday, 2-3:15 p.m. and Saturday, 1:30-2:45 p.m. Team tryouts for U-15 will be held Saturday, June 3 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the North 40 field, located just north of Treasure Mountain International Middle School. Bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a UYSA participant registration form (please fill out ahead of time if possible. The unemployment rate in Summit County in September rose slightly and the state upwardly revised the August figure, evidence job gains in the Park City-area have largely stalled.
