Forest Service touts pass as possible Christmas gift

Most of the proceeds from the passes remain in the forest or national park where they are purchased. This funding helps to support the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in providing quality recreation experiences to visitors.

America the Beautiful Passes are available at Forest Service offices and National Park Service Visitor Centers, said Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest officials suggesting the pass as a Christmas gift.

There are a variety of options: annual passes available to everyone over the age of 16; discounted passes for military members, veterans and Gold Star families; fourth grade students; seniors; individuals with permanent disabilities; and volunteers.

The America the Beautiful Pass, also known as The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, provides access to and use of sites that charge entrance or day use fees. Special circumstances apply to discounts for camping. Visitors can check with local Forest Service offices for details.

Dave Whittekiend, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest supervisor, said: “I look forward to purchasing my pass each year and enjoying the exceptional recreation activities on our national forests.”
