Grant sought to rebuild municipal tennis courts

City Hall wants to rebuild the seven outdoor tennis courts at the Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center.

The courts date to the 1970s and were not redone as the Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center was put up at the site of the Racquet Club.

Ken Fisher, who manages the municipal government’s recreation programs, said in a memo this week to Mayor Dana Williams and the Park City Council the courts will be rebuilt to meet specifications outlined by the United States Tennis Association. They will have a 50-year lifespan, the memo said.

City Hall is seeking $500,000 in financial assistance from the County Courthouse’s Recreation, Arts and Parks grants program. The $500,000 could cover the entire cost of the rebuilt courts.

Park City officials also want financial assistance from the grants program for the Park City Golf Club and improvements to a trail.
