How to decorate an ice rink: install giant, sporty banners

The Park City Ice Arena will soon install banners above the rink highlighting sports that are played at the Quinn’s Junction facility — speedskating, figure skating, curling, hockey and sledge hockey.

Jon Pistey, the operations manager at the rink, says they will be installed between May 22 and June 14, when the rink is closed to repaint lines, redo the ice and make other repairs.

Each of the banners is 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide. They will be installed on the west wall of the building, behind the player benches.

"It’s going to definitely make (the arena) look a lot better. Right now, it’s a 210-foot blank wall," Pistey says.
