Ivy League to school Parkites
November 27, 2009
The contemporary reggae band Ivy League will make a rare appearance on Main Street tonight at the Star Bar. Presented by Best Buy and Skullcandy, Ivy League is one of Utah’s hottest young bands, having played more than 30 dates from New York to California on this summer’s Warped Tour. The band combines a unique blend of original music with classics from bands such as UB 40 and Bob Marley. Ivy League last appeared in Park City in August as one of the outdoor performers at the Newpark Amphitheater.
"I am on the road so much that we just don’t get to play often here at home," said lead singer Lucas George, an executive with Park City-based company Skullcandy, "The Star Bar is a great venue for us, and we are looking forward to being part of the holiday weekend."
The night will start with the local premiere of "Smells Like Fun," a new snowboarding movie from the Dank Squad and Lifestyles Projection Movement.
Best Buy is running special promotion on tonight’s event. Bring a receipt from any Best Buy purchase made between Nov. 23 and Nov. 28, and tickets will be just $5. For more information, go to http://www.myspace.com/starbarpc or http://www.myspace.com/ivyleague .
