John Paul DesBarres, 69, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away suddenly December 29, 2008 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was born on July 8, 1939 to George V. and Margaret M. (Moroney) DesBarres in Northbridge, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Anne (DesBarres) Noe, and a brother, George DesBarres. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Amanda DesBarres of Alexandria, Va.; son John B. DesBarres of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Buddy Kane of Tulsa, Okla.; and daughter and son-in-law, Kim and John Ventimiglia, of New City, N.Y. His brother, Joseph DesBarres of California, sister, Jean Kellett, of Milford, Mass., nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives also survive him. John’s business accomplishments were many; he was admired and respected for his intelligence and leadership. He was skilled at making lifelong friends, and his daily life was an outward sign of his deep Roman Catholic faith. John was an avid golfer, whether at home in Park City, Utah or Palm Desert, Calif. He enjoyed traveling with Linda, especially to France, and skiing "down the mountain" with his grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, Park City, Utah, with interment at the Park City Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family deeply appreciates memorial donations to the Boy Scouts of America, National Office, 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane, P.O. Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015.
