Letters to the Editor, May 28-31, 2011

Editor:

A deep-hearted thank you goes out to everyone who visited the Historic Park City area on May 14 to celebrate Kids Day with us. It was a great community-wide turnout of families and children looking to play in the Historic District, and the feedback we received from parents was just as positive as the excitement on children’s faces. It’s hard enough to figure out weekend plans during mud season, let alone when the snow refuses to let up, and Kids Day seemed to bring families out of winter hibernation.

I’d also like to thank the businesses that provided these children with hands-on arts, crafts and exhibits. We couldn’t have hosted Kids Day without the support of the participating HPCA members. We look forward to hosting this event again in the fall.

Bring all our troops home ASAP

Editor:

We need to bring every single American soldier home from abroad as soon as possible.

We are doing nothing but creating more bitter hatred toward the United States by our presence everywhere throughout the world. We meddle in other countries’ affairs and are intervening where we are not welcome, nor where vital U.S. interests are threatened.

There is a U.S. troop presence in over 150 nations around the globe! And we spend almost $1 trillion a year on the military — money we are borrowing from our grandchildren!

This is outrageous! And it must stop now!

Watch this video to hear the comments of some of our returning military personnel about what is truly going on over there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWUQ_N_vHc0
