Locals’ tickets on sale this week

Film fanatics who missed the deadline to purchase locals’ tickets aren’t entirely out of luck to view screenings at the Sundance Film Festival. The Express Pass B, one of the Locals Quick Pass options, is still available online, and a chance to view award-winning flicks remains after the festival.

The Sundance Institute also offers complimentary screenings of Best of Fest films at each of the festival locations. The shows will run in Park City on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Eccles Center. Patrons can pick up tickets at the Park City Box Office on a first-come, first-served basis on Jan. 12 and 13. (Only two tickets per person, per screening are allowed.)

Parkites who did remember to register for locals’ tickets will get one step closer to securing coveted seats as the box office will open for Locals Weekend on Jan. 5. Registrants can purchase tickets in person at the Park City Main Box Office, located at the Gateway Center on 136 Heber Avenue, during the half-hour timeslot assigned to them in their registration e-mail, according to the Sundance Web site. Available times run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., continuing on Jan. 6. A Utah driver’s license or a legal form of identification and a Utah utility bill is required.

Park City residents can purchase tickets to see films in any of the festival’s locations, including Ogden, Salt Lake City and the Sundance Resort. Sundance will not provide tickets to those who registered for Summit County timeslots but cannot show proof of residency in the valid zip codes.

Buyers of Film Lovers Packages and Locals Quick Pass options, meanwhile, can fulfill those options today through Friday according to their e-mailed instructions.

With a ‘never say never’ attitude, locals who failed to secure passes can still elbow their way into a seat. Open ticket sales will be available at the Park City Box Office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Jan. 14. Tickets are final and nonrefundable. As a last resort, determined Parkites can also arrive early to flicks for day-of-show wait list seating.

For more information on, including important dates and ticket pickup, visit http://www.sundance.org or call the ticket hotline at 435-776-7878. Sales are not available on the hotline.
