Lodging expert to head new Deer Valley Resort division

Deer Valley Resort announced Monday that Premier Resorts International’s vice president of operations, Kim McClelland, would head its new lodging and property management division. His new title is Director of Lodging Operations for Deer Valley Resort Lodging and Reservations.
According to a press release, prior to joining Premier Resorts in 1995, McClelland had served as vice president and general manager of Jupiter Property Management for over 10 years. He has also served as president of the Park City Area Lodging Association, the Park City Rotary Club and the Park City Chamber/Bureau. He is also involved with the Utah Office of Tourism and the Utah Ski Association.
In the press release, Deer Valley Resort president and general manager Bob Wheaton said, "We are very pleased and excited to have Kim join our team Kim’s experience and wisdom in both the lodging and ski industry will be instrumental is the success of our new division."
In an interview on Monday afternoon, McClelland said the new post was a great opportunity. He’s known and worked with the leaders of Deer Valley Resort for many years and said the infrastructure of the resort will provide the new division with many needed resources.
"How big or how small (the division) will be is yet to be determined, but we’re ready to launch in a way that will accommodate people interested in working with us," he said.
Interest expressed in the new division has shown him there are a lot resources and talent he can draw on to make the endeavor a success, he said.

According to the press release, McClelland and his wife Judy have been residents of Park City since 1979 and have raised their three children here. Judy has been teaching in the Park City School District for over 30 years and their three children are attending the University of Utah.
