Man arrested on sex charge
Park City police officers early on New Year’s Day arrested a man on charges that he broke into a residence and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.
Ramiro Valdes-Angel, 23, faces preliminary charges of forcible sexual abuse of a child and burglary. Formal charges had not been filed by Friday morning. Valdes-Angel lives in Park City.
According to the Police Department, officers received the report just before 5 a.m. from the 2200 block of Monitor Drive. The girl told investigators that a man described as a family acquaintance broke into the residence and sexually assaulted her. Officers found Valdes-Angel nearby. The police said the investigation is continuing.
Valdes-Angel is in the Summit County Jail. Bail is set at $60,000, but immigration officials have ordered him held. The police are investigating his immigration status.
