Man dies of injuries sustained in avalanche near Canyons
UPDATE: Timothy Robert Baker, age 24, of Salt Lake City died of injuries sustained in an avalanche in the Dutch Canyon area near Canyons ski resort Thursday afternoon.
According to Summit County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ron Bridge, the slide was reported at about 3 p.m. The victim was flown to an area hospital at 4 p.m. in extremely critical condition. He later died.
Sheriff’s deputies interviewed eyewitnesses at the scene and determined only one person was caught in the slide. According to Bridge the avalanche happened near the peak known as Ninety-nine-90 and was outside of the ski area’s boundaries.
