Stephen V. Hampton Jr. appeared in 3rd District Court in the Snyderville Basin Feb. 1 to face two counts of rape of a child, both second-degree felonies.
The victim was 13 years old when Hampton allegedly had sexual intercourse with her on two occasions, court information filed by prosecutors states.
The alleged rapes occurred at Hampton’s brother’s house, prosecutors claim.
Rape of a child is possibly punishable by imprisonment for life. Hampton was incarcerated this week in Summit County with his bail set at $100,000.
