Man killed in S.R. 224 car wreck
According to a press release from the Utah Highway Patrol, a Salt Lake man was killed Sunday in a one-car rollover on S.R. 224. The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m..
Paul Velo, age 38, of Salt Lake was driving a Volkswagen Passat northbound on S.R. 224 near Silver Springs Drive when, according to UHP, he lost control of his vehicle as it approached a curve in the roadway. "The vehicle went off the roadway and traveled some distance in the dirt before the driver attempted to get the vehicle back on the roadway. The vehicle went up an embankment and then rolled over on the side of the roadway," the report stated.
Velo was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries when was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene of the accident.
According to UHP’s preliminary report, speed and alcohol may have been factors in the accident.

The Park City government is not considering layoffs or staff furloughs through at least June 30, the end of the municipal fiscal year, the city manager said this week.
