Marijuana found in guest room at St. Regis
A small amount of marijuana was found recently in a guest room at the St. Regis Deer Valley, the Park City Police Department said.
The police received the report in the evening of June 27. A member of the hotel’s security team filed the report with the police. Rick Ryan, a police captain, said a housekeeper found the bag of marijuana while cleaning the room.
An officer retrieved the bag and it was logged into the department’s evidence room, Ryan said. The captain said the street value of the marijuana is approximately $30. He said the marijuana would be destroyed.
The person who had been staying in the room had already checked out, Ryan said. He said it is difficult to charge someone under the circumstances, explaining that the police could not say with certainty that the marijuana belonged to the person who last stayed in the room.
Ryan said illegal drugs are occasionally found in hotel rooms.
A public-relations firm representing St. Regis Deer Valley said the hotel declined to comment.
