McPolin elementary enlists new music instructor

Jodi Lundmark just moved to Park City this week to start a new job as a music teacher at McPolin Elementary School. Lundmark plans to have her students, "experiencing music from a vast variety of teaching techniques- including dancing, singing, playing and listening." Lundmark will teach her classes with what she describes as her energetic teaching style. She is moving to the area because she thinks the PCSD is a great district that really supports its teachers.

Lundmark previously taught middle school music in Salt Lake City and high school choir in Colorado Springs, Colo. Lundmark is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in Music education. Lundmark is a native of Medford, Ore. and attended South Medford High School where her favorite subject was music.

Lundmark’s opinion of the No Child Left Behind act is that it has encouraged schools to make changes that have helped students, however it still needs some revisions. The most rewarding part of her job is seeing the smiles on kids’ faces. Lundmark said that helping close the gap of achievement with the English Language Learning (ELL) students is one of the biggest challenges she faces in her job as an educator. Since Lundmark will be living in town, she’s considering riding her bike to work.
