Michelle Obama might visit Park City next month
First lady Michelle Obama might visit Park City on a fundraising trip in late July, a trip that would add to the city’s political cachet.
Wayne Holland, the chairman of the Utah Democratic Party, said Obama is scheduled to be in Utah and Colorado on July 26. If the trip happens, Obama will likely stop in Park City, he said.
"An event in Park City is pretty much a given," Holland said.
He said the state Democrats had not yet scouted a location for a Park City event, which would raise money for the president’s re-election campaign.
The trip’s details could be set by early next week, Holland said. It was not clear whether Obama would make a public appearance in Park City.
Barack Obama, then an Illinois senator, traveled to Park City in 2007, in the early days of the 2008 presidential campaign. He held a fundraiser in the Snyderville Basin and a well-attended rally in a parking lot in the shadow of the Utah Olympic Park.
The Christian Center of Park City had a makeover last year, and its boutique felt it was time for one, too.
