A large contingent of local athletes took part in the Battle at Midway triathlon last Saturday ahead of the Aug. 21 TriUtah Jordanelle Triathlon.
A full triathlon course took competitors through a 1,500-meter swim, 22-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run, while a "lite" triathlon involved 700 meters swimming, 22 miles on the bike and 3.2 miles running. The event also featured a 10K trail run and 5K fun run/walk later on Saturday night at Deer Creek Reservoir.
Overall winners were North Salt Lake’s B.J. Christenson in 1:53:07 and Provo’s Sarah Jarvis in 2:07:03.
Park City’s John O’Connell won the male 45-49 age group in 2:06:52, and Oakley’s Tom Noaker finished first in the male 60-64 age group in 2:17:32.
Top finishers from Park City include John Rabenau (fourth, men’s 30-34), Joel Moskal (10th, men’s 25-29), Tara Stocker (ninth, women’s 35-39), Darren Yager (eighth, men’s 40-44), Craig Walker (10th, men’s 40-44), Kenneth Chahine (fifth, men’s 45-49), Tom Stoltman (seventh, men’s 45-49), Ivan Lach (ninth, men’s 45-49), Maryln Harmer (fourth, women’s 45-49) and David Susong (third, men’s 50-54).
Oakley’s Dylan Noaker was seventh in the male under-24 age group in the lite triathlon, with the group’s fastest time in the run.

A Deer Valley Resort executive on Wednesday said the resort by the end of 2019 or in early 2020 intends to submit plans to City Hall for the initial infrastructure work needed for the eventual development of the Snow Park Lodge parking lots.
