Mitt Romney brings Republican White House hopefuls to Park City this week

Six Republicans who have either started presidential campaigns or are considering one are expected to travel to Park City this week for a Mitt Romney-led summit.

It will be the fourth consecutive year Romney has brought a roster of top-tier political figures to Park City. The E2 Summit is scheduled from Thursday until Saturday in Deer Valley. It is the third annual E2 Summit. The event in 2012 was held as Romney prepared for the fall presidential campaign and was not considered an E2 Summit.

A list of expected attendees obtained by The Park Record includes:

  • Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey
  • Carly Fiorina, who is the former CEO of Hewlett Packard
  • Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
  • John Kasich, the governor of Ohio
  • Marco Rubio, a Florida senator
  • Scott Walker, the governor of Wisconsin

Others on the list include New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, journalist Katie Couric, former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Jeffrey Immelt, who is the CEO of GE, former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers and business executive Meg Whitman. Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly is also expected to participate.

The schedule includes morning hikes with Romney and his wife, a flag-football game with Rubio, skeet shooting with Graham, outdoor yoga and a hot-air balloon ride with an unspecified special guest.

There are no public events planned. The summit is scheduled at Stein Eriksen Lodge. Wade Carpenter, the Park City police chief, said officers would be sent to the scene if assistance is needed to handle traffic or access issues. He said a moderate media presence is anticipated.
