Earl Francis Lair, age 89 and a Park City resident, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday morning, Feb. 26, 2007, in Salt Lake City. He was born to Joseph A. Lair and Marion Shank in Malvern, Pa., on Dec. 29, 1917.

He spent most of his life as a farmer in Pennsylvania. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps, Eighth Air Force, from 1941 to 1945. He was very proud to be a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 106, West Chester, Pa.

"Pop-Pop" loved his family and had a passion for crossword puzzles. He will be missed.

Earl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna E. Riggins; son, Joe E. (Susan) Lair; granddaughter, Kory Lair (Jayson) Strachan; grandsons: Joshua (Liz) Lair and Alexander; great-grandchildren: Thailer James; Amy and Tara Lair; a and Jack, Matthew, Amanda Strachan, all of Park City. He is also survived by granddaughters: Tracey Ronca (Rob Cooper) of Phoenixville, Pa.; and Stacey (Lee) Colombek, of Spring City, Pa.; and great-grandchildren: Austin Ronca and Rebecca Cooper.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia, Patricia Lair Taglieber and six siblings, all victims of the flu epidemic of 1918.

Funeral services are pending and will be held in Pennsylvania.
