Karl Raymond Nelson passed away on May 9, 2007, after a long fight with cancer.

He was born May 2, 1949, in Provo, to Howard R. and Glennes LeeMaster Nelson. Karl spoke fondly of many happy childhood memories of family and friends. Throughout his life he was actively involved in sports; he graduated from Provo High School, where he excelled in football and basketball.

In the summer of 1969, he married Kristen Lee Bowcutt. They made beautiful Heber Valley their home. In their 25 years together, they raised four wonderful sons.

Karl had a passion for the outdoors, especially the desert of southern Utah. Camping, fishing, gardening and numerous sports were among his favorite pastimes. His love of family and his fun spirit will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his mother; siblings: Karen, Lee, Steve, and Sheri; children: Shane (Mona), Cheyenne (Hailey), Christopher, and Sam; grandchildren: Dillan, Hayden, James, and Ava; previous wives: Kristen Lee Bowcutt and Crystal Mackey; and life-long friend Dennis Sweat. He is preceded in death by his father and his brother Wayne.

Special thanks to Karl’s nurses, Carri and Audrey of IHC Hospice, for their care and compassion.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Heber City Cemetery, 650 East 600 North, Heber.
