Obituary |

Claire Yacknin was born April 25, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She enjoyed a successful career in fashion design before marrying super entertainment agent, Norman Weiss. The couple had two children, Gary and Dori.

The family moved to Park City in the early’80s, after purchasing Dolly’s Bookstore. Claire started the ecumenical Passover Seder suppers and was the accidental founder of Friends of the Animals.

She was a fixture at the "aqua babes" water aerobic classes and a fierce competitor at weekly mahjong games. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, and her son, Gary.

Claire had spent her last days in Florida with her cousins Rhoda and Ruth, with whom she had a lifetime of adventures. She died June 10, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Dori Weiss Allen of Steamboat Springs, Colo., her adored grandsons, Tucker and Gus, and her legions of dear friends.

A celebration of life is being planned for Claire, here in Park City, in the near future.
