Papa Johns Pizza opens Thursday
August 17, 2010
Mitchell Newman, owner of the brand-new Papa John’s Pizza franchise at Kimball Junction, said pies will be for sale starting this Thursday.
Newman said he responded to an ad placed by the corporation inviting someone to open a franchise in Park City. He was a fan of the product and thought it was a good fit for the area.
The new store employs about 18 people and is a delivery or carry-out location. It will open at 11 a.m. every day and close at 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, at 10 p.m. or later Thursday through Saturday.
"If people are still ordering pizzas we’ll stay open later," Newman said.
The telephone has been ringing regularly since the sign was put up with people asking if they’re ready to deliver. The range will be Jeremy Ranch to Silver Creek and Kimball Junction to Deer Valley Drive.
The soft opening is a VIP event for the Park City Education Foundation. Anyone not invited who would like to attend and make a donation to the foundation may call the store at 615-7300 to make a reservation.

Papa John’s founder John Schnatter owns property in Park City and has been actively promoting the store. He is out of the country this week, Newman said, but has stopped by several times to see how construction was going.
"He’ll be visiting the store on a regular basis, I’m sure," Newman said. "We’ll need to be a flagship and on our ‘A game’ all the time."
The store is at 6400 Newpark Boulevard Suite E2 next to Starbucks Coffee.
