Park City Council field too small to force a primary

One person filed paperwork on Friday to campaign for a spot on the Park City Council, not enough to force a primary election.
The City Council candidates are:
Caruso was the final person to file campaign papers.
There had been little chatter in Park City about the campaign during the window when candidates were required to file paperwork.
The upcoming campaign is expected to focus on issues like Old Town’s future, the Sweeney family’s Treasure development proposal and ways to grow the local economy.
Election Day is Nov. 8. The winners will be sworn into office in early 2012.

The seats held by City Councilors Alex Butwinski and Cindy Matsumoto are not on the ballot this year. The mayor’s office also is not on the 2011 ballot.
City Council campaigns have generally been mild-mannered affairs in the years since the 2002 Winter Olympics, but there has been more urgency during recession-era election seasons.
