Golf

The Park City golf team holds an 84 stroke lead heading into the final tournament of the season after competing at the Soldier Hollow Tournament on Thursday. Park City shot a total of 295, Carbon and Wasatch both shot 312 and Union shot 314. Junior Michael Coopman scored his second round under par this year with a -4 (68).

Individual scores from Soldier Hollow were Michael Coopman (68), Brian Schwerin (74), Jack Burrus (75), Ethan Eisenbarth (78), Matt Vanleeuwen (80), Justin Schluker (80), Ryan Carroll (81), Ryan Kearns (81), and junior varsity players Sam Sisk (84) and Evan Fleming (87).

The final tournament before the State meet will be held on Sept. 24.

Cross-country

The girls’ cross-country team is still holding onto a perfect season. The Miners defeated another 14 teams at the Wasatch Rendezvous last weekend, bringing the total record in cross-country races to 78-0.

The next meet will be in Park City on Oct. 3.

Volleyball

The Miners’ volleyball team lost to Wasatch 3-2 on Sept. 17.

After beating American Leadership Academy 3-0 on Sept. 15. Melissa Emerson had 22 assists, one ace, one kill and one block. Laura Gutman had four block, three aces and three kills. Lizzy Silverstein had 10 kills, two blocks and an ace. Josie Karz had seven kills. Courtney Hoyt had six kills, two blocks and an ace.

They face Union in an away game on Sept. 24.

Tennis

The Miners’ tennis team traveled to Carbon on Sept. 15 and handed Carbon a 5-0 loss. Coach Lori McMahon said the purpose of the meet was to come to the net on every ball and felt the match was great practice for that.

With only three weeks left in the season, the team is currently in the lead for the Region 10 Championships. This Friday and Saturday, the 3A Northern Divisionals will be held at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.

This tournament determines the draw placement for State. The State Tournament will be held at BYU on Oct. 9-10.
