Cross-country

The girls’ team won the Murray invitational on Friday, again defeating all competition in all divisions. They are currently ranked number 1 in the state in all classifications.

Gillian Gorelik placed third overall with a time of 19:15.0, just 12 seconds behind the winner. Rebecca Cunningham placed 4th with a time of 19:15.3. For a full list of scores, see Saturday’s Scoreboard.

Golf

The Miners’ golf team won its fourth tournament on Sept. 10 at Carbon Golf Course, shooting 295, followed by Carbon’s 306, Wasatch’s 308 and Union’s 316. Michael Coopman, a junior from Park City, got a hole-in-one on the 13th hole that ignited a round of 68(-2). Michael leads Region X by five strokes over teammate Ethan Eisenbarth with two tournaments remaining.

Miners’ varsity scores: Michael Coopman 68, Brian Schwerin 74, Ethan Eisenbarth 76, Jack Burrus 77, Ryan Kearns 79, Ryan Carroll 81, Matt Vanleeuwen 81 and Justin Schluker 83. Junior varsity: Sam Sisk 78, Adam Eisenbarth 78, Andrew Method 80, Evan Fleming 82 and E.J. Orshell 83.
