Park City School District Invites Public Input on Strategic Plan

Here’s your chance to tell the Park City School District where to go. On Tuesday, May 25 at 4:30 pm, at Ecker Hill Middle School, the District will hold a forum for residents to comment on and make suggestions regarding a proposed five-year strategic plan. Tuesday’s meeting will be an opportunity for the community to give input on the vision, mission, and goals the District proposes to undertake for the next five years.

The plan has been under development since January. Meeting about twice each month, the Board of Education, District leadership, and representatives from the community have evaluated District strengthens, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities. The meetings have produced an ambitious roadmap for area schools.

"Our strategic plan is an important document," said Superintendent Ray Timothy. "It reaches right down into the classroom and shapes how our students are taught. It informs our daily decision-making. I hope the public will take this chance to help steer the direction of the education of their children."

The University of Utah’s Education Policy Center has been facilitating the strategic planning process and will conduct Tuesday’s meeting. The Strategic Planning Committee will review Tuesday’s public input, make appropriate adjustments, and present the final strategic plan draft to the Board of Education on June 15, 2010.
