Bicyclists encroach on skaters in Park City

by Jay Hamburger THE PARK RECORD

The Park City Police Department last week received reports of bicyclists being spotted in the skate park at City Park.

Bicycling is prohibited in the skate park, but riders are seen in the facility occasionally. The police typically warn them and tell them to leave if they are found in the skate park.

Officials say bicyclists could damage the skate park’s surface. There are also safety concerns.

The cases last week included:

  • on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 5:31 p.m., three or four bicyclists were seen in the skate park. When a police officer arrived, six youngsters were found in the skate park on bicycles. They were informed of the rules.
  • on Aug. 10 at 4:09 p.m., bicycle riders and at least one person on a scooter were seen in the skate park. They were causing problems with the skaters, the police were told. An officer ordered two bicyclists to leave.
