Burglars strike vehicles in Park City

Jay Hamburger THE PARK RECORD

The Park City Police Department last week received a series of reports of vehicle break-ins.

The cases included:

  • on Sunday, June 29 at 9:28 a.m., someone reported finding a purse close to a trailhead on Eagle Cove Drive. The name on a driver license found inside the purse matched the name of a license taken in an earlier vehicle burglary, the police said.
  • on Thursday, June 26 at 3:40 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported on Shadow Ridge Road. The Police Department indicated the burglary occurred at an undetermined time. Public police logs did not provide details.
  • on Wednesday, June 25 at 11:19 a.m., the police received a report that a purse was stolen from a vehicle parked at a trailhead at the southern end of Daly Avenue. A window was smashed in the case, the police said.
  • on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:52 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in Old Town, apparently either somewhere along Empire Avenue or at the intersection of Park Avenue and 12th Street. Someone got inside the vehicle and "went through everything," the police were told. It was not clear from public police logs whether anything was taken.

The Police Department on June 25, meanwhile, indicated an officer patrolled Empire Avenue a little after midnight after several recent reports of vehicle burglaries.
