Park City builders’ $10 million monthly streak ends
The Park City construction industry in September pulled back from the previous month even as the year-to-date numbers hit the $100 million mark.
According to the Park City Building Department, 125 permits were issued in September valued at a little more than $6.8 million combined. The dollar figure dropped sharply from the nearly $16.6 million that was recorded in August. It was up slightly, though, from the little less than $6.3 million tallied in the previous September.
The dollar figure broke a streak of five consecutive months of $10 million or greater.
The Building Department in August issued permits for four houses. The permits were valued at a little less than $3 million combined.
The department, meanwhile, issued 101 permits for alterations or additions, mostly for work on residential properties. The alterations and additions were valued at nearly $3.6 million. Alterations and additions have had an outsized impact on the construction numbers since the onset of the recession as property owners decided to fix up or expand their places rather than building new ones.

The number of electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits the department issued was mixed compared to the previous month and the previous September.
The Building Department in September conducted an average of approximately 106 inspections each day, down from the nearly 124 each day in August and the nearly 129 each day in the previous September.
