Park City’s library director will leave for Colorado job

by Jay Hamburger THE PARK RECORD

The director of the Park City Library since the fall of 2001 will depart for a job in Colorado at the beginning of May, City Hall said on Wednesday.

Linda Tillson will become the library director of the Eagle Valley Library District in central Colorado. She will leave the Park City job on May 1.

In a prepared statement announcing her departure, City Hall said Tillson and the staffers at the library "promoted the concept of the 21st Century Library in Park City." It described technological advances at the library during Tillson’s tenure, including online catalog software and revamped Internet terminals for the public. The statement also notes the E-Reader program.

"I have truly enjoyed my 12 years as the Park City Library Director. Park City is a wonderful community and PCMC has been a great employer," she said in the prepared statement, referring to the municipal government’s proper name of Park City Municipal Corporation.

Tillson will leave as Park City prepares for a major renovation of the library.

The prepared statement said Tillson is "excited about the opportunity to manage a larger library district."

She wants to retire in Westcliffe, Colo., on a ranch that her mother’s family pioneered, the statement said.

City Hall is conducting a national search for her successor. Applications are due May 10. The position was listed on the municipal website on Wednesday.
