PC MARC gymnasium to be used for Sundance

When the Sundance film festival rolls into town this week, the Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center will close its gym and one tennis court to accommodate film screenings.

But, with the exception of the gymnasium being closed, PC MARC users shouldn’t expect any changes.

Tate Shaw, the recreation supervisor at the MARC, said Sundance participants use a different entrance and are generally unseen by members. He said there is virtually no crossover between the film festival and MARC members trying to get in a workout.

"If you’re a Sundance goer, you wouldn’t even know it was an athletic complex," he said.

The gymnasium will be closed until noon on Jan. 30, and tennis court four will be closed until Jan. 28.

The Basin Recreation Fieldhouse will be hosting the Awards Ceremony and Reception, as well as the Awards Night Party on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 6 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. The entire facility will close at 1 p.m. Saturday and reopen on Sunday at 7 a.m.
