PCHS girls fall to Canyon View

The season came to an end for the Park City High School girls’ basketball team Friday with a 63-23 loss to Canyon View High School in the first round of the 3A state tournament.

Junior Laurel Kasel led the Miners with 17 points including three 3-pointers. Tori McGrath scored 25 for Canyon View.

"They were the number one team in their region (Region 9) and we didn’t play well at all," said head coach Sam White. "It was a little frustrating but it was good experience for the girls to play in that environment."

Even though the girls did not shoot well and had trouble taking care of the ball, they continued to work hard on defense, White said. "They never quit. They played right to the end."

That experience should pay dividends next year when four of the five starters on this year’s team are expected to return. In addition to Kasel, the returning starters are Abbey Cohen, Carson Lyman and Bailey Tibbitts.
