PCHS outslugged in 2 losses
April 6, 2010
The Park City High School softball team has had no problem at the plate this season, but a setback to freshman pitcher Cass Chester led to two high-scoring losses in recent games at American Leadership Academy and Provo.
Chester tore her MCL and struggled against ALA on Friday, April 2, and will likely sit out about a week. On the bright side, the Miners rocked their opponents for 16 hits in a 15-12 loss.
"We’re scoring a ton of runs," said head coach Scott Chester. "Our offense is hitting the ball like we’ve never seen it before."
Cass Chester again tried to start against Provo on Monday night, but left in the first inning as the Miners went on to lose 21-12.
"It’s definitely a setback for us, but it’s cool to see others stepping up," Scott Chester said.
The others include junior shortstop Laura Kubicki, who leads Class 3A in home runs with five and narrowly missed out on her sixth when a would-be grand slam fell short by about a foot, Chester said. Kubicki was named Deseret News Prep Athlete of the Week after her performance at a St. George tournament in late March.
