The snow conditions held up relatively well for Saturday’s slalom competition despite 40-degree temperatures.

However, the tricky race course and flat light proved challenging for the skiers, with only 70 percent of the female racers completing the course. Bridey Bush grabbed second place and Gabrielle Nixon came in fourth for the girls and Park City Ski Team (PCST) boys received 40 percent of the top-10 finishes with Ben Lawson (sixth), Robbie Allison (eighth), Eli Kimche (ninth) and Sam Levine finishing in tenth place.

Sunday proved even more vexing for racers and spectators alike as hail, lightning, thunder and eventually powdery flakes pelted the course throughout the day.

Park City girls blazed through the foul weather with Alix Wilkinson winning the race followed closely by Bridey Bush (third), Gabrielle Nixon (fifth) and Brynne Hitchcock (ninth). PCST boys also forged ahead with Ben Lawson on the podium in third place, followed by Max Miller (12th) and Eli Kimche (13th).

PCST concluded the weekend with a giant slalom race on Presidents’ Day under a mix of clouds and sun. PCST girls swept the podium with Alix Wilkinson grabbing first place again, followed by Gabrielle Nixon in second place and Bridey Bush in third. For the boys, Ben Lawson came in seventh, followed closely by Max Miller in eighth and Sam Levine in ninth.

"The kids have worked incredibly hard thus far, and as we head into the second half of the season they are poised to reach their goals," said coach Darryl Whitaker. "A congratulations to all of them for their hard work and dedication."

The next qualifying race takes place at Snowbasin Feb. 28 to March 2. Park City Mountain Resort will host the U14 championships March 20-23. Come support your local race team!
