Officers investigate vehicle burglaries, hit-and-run accidents
On Saturday, Feb. 4 at 12:58 a.m., a person called the Park City Police Department reporting that a man was in a bar wearing a large jacket who might have explosives underneath the outerwear.
The police responded to the 200 block of Main Street, where they made two sweeps through the bar. The officers were unable to find a person meeting the description of the jacket-wearing man.
Other incidents reported to the Police Department last week included: On Sunday, Feb. 5 at 8:51 p.m., a person called the police from Daly Avenue, where a water main reportedly broke. Water was flowing into a house, the police were told, and a crew from the Water Department turned off the main.
A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on the 2200 block of Deer Valley Drive at 1:41 p.m.
A person called the police at 11:57 a.m., reporting that their home, on the 1200 block of Moray Court, was possibly broken into the night before.
On Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10:15 p.m., the police responded to a complaint about a loud party on the 1300 block of Park Avenue, warning the revelers to quiet down. Later, at 11:59 p.m., a loud party was reported on the 1200 block of Empire Avenue. The police said the party had ended.
At 8:57 p.m., the police received a complaint about a hit-and-run traffic accident on the 1800 block of Park Avenue. The police said a white minivan was hit.
The police arrested a person on a public-intoxication charge on the 2000 block of Prospector Avenue at 5:38 p.m.
The police responded to an assault report at 4:25 p.m. on the 700 block of Main Street. A witness called the police, saying that the four suspects were walking up Main Street afterward. The victim was taken to a clinic. The suspects were not found.
At 6:01 p.m., the police received a complaint about money that was possibly counterfeit. An officer took the questionable bills and forwarded the case to the Police Department’s detectives.
Some kids were seen throwing snowballs on Empire Avenue at 3:39 p.m. When a police officer arrived, the kids were gone.
A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on the 700 block of Main Street at 2:14 p.m.
At 11:04 a.m., the police received a complaint that a bus in a parking lot on the 1500 block of Empire Avenue was idling. The fumes were seeping into a nearby hotel, the police were told. The bus company was contacted and the vehicle was shut off.
A person called the police at 8:52 a.m. reporting that a neighbor might be smoking marijuana on the 1700 block of Kearns Boulevard. The person was gone when the police arrived.
On Friday, Feb. 3 at 12:26 p.m., a break-in was reported at a house on the 1600 block of lower Iron Horse Loop. A computer and video games were taken, the police were told.
At 3:34 p.m., a snowboard was reported stolen in the Park City Mountain Resort area.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, the police received a faxed-in report that a laptop computer was stolen on the 400 block of Main Street. The incident occurred on Jan. 25, the police were told.
The police took a woman into custody, cited her and released her after receiving a complaint about a retail theft on the 1500 block of Snow Creek Drive.
At 9:33 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at the intersection of Main Street and 5th Street. The police said the case involves more than $200. Earlier, at 9:03 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported on the 1400 block of Three Kings Drive. The case involves between $50 and $200, the police said.
On Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 3:46 p.m., the police received a complaint about a $31.50 gas skip on the 1600 block of Bonanza Drive.
At 3:13 p.m., the police received a complaint about a vehicle burglary on Vantage Court. The police said a satellite radio was missing and said the radio is valued at more than $200.
At 8:19 a.m., the police received a complaint that a purse was stolen from a car on the 1900 block of Sidewinder Drive. The police said the case is valued at between $50 and $200.
On Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 11:54 p.m., the police received a complaint that a car was stolen on the 1600 block of lower Iron Horse Loop. It was later determined that the car had been repossessed.
The police responded to Park Meadows at 5:32 p.m., where a person reported that a young girl was seen hitchhiking. An officer found the girl, walked her home and spoke to her parents.
At 4:52 p.m., the police received a complaint that skis were stolen from Park City Mountain Resort.
On Monday, Jan. 30 at 5:06 p.m., the police were told of a road-rage incident on the 1900 block of Prospector Avenue. An officer met with the people involved and nobody wanted to press charges.
The police said a pair of stolen skis was recovered on the 1300 block of Lowell Avenue at 4:39 p.m.
At 12:59 p.m., propane heaters were reported stolen on the 600 block of Park Avenue.
A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported on the 1100 block of Deer Valley Drive at 11:34 a.m.

The developer pursuing a major project at the Park City Mountain Resort base area intends to incorporate a paid-parking system as a key measure in the efforts to reduce the amount of traffic the new lodging and commercial spaces would generate.
